Creativity can evolve through many things such as the arts, literature, music and dance but little by little an individuals creativity is being suppressed. One major reason is funding. Due to cost, many schools eliminate the extra curricular programs like art and music. These are important ways for a child to show creativity. Another area of concern is time. As most households have all breadwinners working, little time is available to give the child the attention they need when their curiosity strikes. When a child is continually put off they will eventually stop asking questions and their curiosity will fade. As an adult working in a constantly changing environment the ability to be creative is important but because their creativity was limited in childhood, the ability to be creative an an adult will be difficult. This can affect an adults morale, opportunity for promotions and earning capacity.

The basic notion for learning is creativity and curiousity. It starts in childhood with all the "why's?" Working with children I see this on a regular basis and try to foster it. In my daycare a child's question will lead to an ongoing lessen plan such as "where do tonadoes come from?" We read books, did experiments, and discussed and practiced how to stay safe. I sparked their creativity by having them spin to music like a tornado and paint something about tornadoes. I believe that integrating children's questions (curiousity) into the entire curriculum is the best way to teach because they have the interest to start with. Without it, they will lose their attention span because they're not interested. The same goes for adults. You take away creativity and curiousity, interest is lost.

I agree with dawn about the basic notion for learning is creativity and curiousity. People always talk about how curious children are, and some people often speak about it as if it is a trait solely of a child. I believe that i am as curious today if not more than i was as a child. I am just curious about different things, lI wonder about everything, I am aways questioning something and i really believe that as long as i do i will always be in the process of learning, therefore i will forever grow regardless of my age. Creativity is also important to me, regardless if it is a childs ability to make believe, an persons ability to be crafty with food, clothes, decorating etc. some people think being creative is being able to make something tangable but people who express them selves through writing, poetry, music, dance, designing, and many other outlets of creativity are blessed.

Hello all, I did a little research and asked around (my co-workers) about this question of creativity and curiousity. Very interestingly, the research and my co-workers both kind of agreed that curiousity is neccessary for creativity. One has to ask the question first before creativity kicks in. Creativity then will breed more curiosity, thus learning begins. Neither can be ignored; both are necessary.

I think creativity and curiosity is needed to navigate change. Curiosity gives us the abilities to ask the questions who, what, why and where. The creativity gives us the ability to come up with solutions to navigate those changes. I found this quote on the internet
"Creativity, it has been said, consists largely of re-arranging what we know in order to find out what we do not." George Keller

What it made me think of was the story that HFS told in class about the the women who was an avid runner and thought she was clumsey because her father told her that when she as a child. In order for her to change that thought about herself she would have to basically look at what she knows in a different way.

Curiosity and creativity are both beautiful traits of mankind. They are gifts. Curiosity helps people explore and learn the wonder of their environment. It is through curiosity that often, men made superb discoveries in science and agricultural, for instance, and were able to help in the ever changing environment. One superb example of a curious man is Abraham Lincoln. At an early age, Lincoln was above the farm boys of his age, according to history, because he has an intense desire to learn. He was curious and was a vivid reader of News paper. Guess what? Lincoln became the person who made one of the most extraordinary changes in United States history: the eradication of slavery on the USA's soil. Creativity and curiosity walk hands to hands. Creativity like curiosity is a mental process. The world is blessed by the creativity of mankind. It is beautiful to contemplate the wonders of the world, for example a "Pyramid" or simply put a "decorated cake" made by a woman. Unfortunately, we living a time where curiosity and creativity are being restrained in all sphere of life: family life, school, work and so forth. the families no longer have time to built things together because of the business of life. School no longer encourages children to use their gifts giving talents and employees can no longer use their creativity in the work place because now everything is "profit, profit, profit". One of the major damages for children and even adults is television. although, television can be a tool for learning, unfortunately, for many it became a curse because of the way they glued in front of the TV. It leaves little space for other activities. Sadly, we must admit, this is one of the many reasons the world is witnessing so much crimes and deviant behaviors. Does somebody remember the way the older generations use to live and enjoy the outside activities? Let's stop a moment and rethink our actions. Let's try to bring a change to this system and help, may be, one child at a time.

Creativity/Curiosity are what we are. Without being creative we have no imagination and without asking the why? we have no curiosity. Many children need to have these daily in their lives so they can learn and proceed with what life has for them. With help from adults every child can become creative and curious from an early age.

The curiosity and creativity of countless humans beings have led to discoveries and that have changed how we all live. Without the curiosity that drove individuals to look at human behavior we may not have the various theories to draw from in the Human Services Counseling field. Things such as electricity, the computer, the telephone, and many medical advancements; all were created from an individual being curios in how change could occur. Without the curiosity of many coupled with the ability to think creatively and many times outside of the bos; we would probably still be in the dark. How amazing the human brain is.
