I do believ that the way we behave now can effect our future. If one continuse to over-eat and binge, the future result my be an out of control anorexic. It is very important that a person understands what the future consequesnce of a present behavor may be.

Every decision we make in life affects our future. One bad choice can litterally ruin your life. For example, deciding to do drugs leads to addiction which stays with you and creates tons of secondary problems including health and relationship problems, financial ruin, restricted freedom (since jail is a likely result), and homelessness. Another example is a teenager with oppositional defiant disorder, if not resolved, will lead to conduct disorder which leads to anti-social disorder and a magnitude of other problems.

I Know that the things that i do now will in some ways determine what my future will bring but i also believe that life is forever changing and maybe along the road something can and may happen that may throw me off track. Example would be my older brother when he was 17 he got an opportunity to finish his senior year and complete his freshman year of college at once. He was a very good artist and got excepted into a program at IUT in NY. at the same time his 17 year old girlfriend became pregnant and he had to work and go to school, which he did for a while. Now based on his talent and his love for what he was doing we all assumed his future was bright but to our surprise he dropped out and did not finish school and is now living life like a loser. If i had to judge his future based on his present i would predict that nothing will really change or get better, but i pray that i am wrong and he will find a way to get his train of life back on track.

"Prepare your futur today"is a popular maxim among many people of the world. There is a famous verse in the Bible that we find in Hosea 8:7 "For they have sown the wind and they shall reap the whirlwind." In another part we read: "Those who sown good seed will reap good fruits". These declarations summarize in a vivid way the phrase "Future behavior is determined by the consequences of present behavior". Human being, is called to make choices throughout life. The decisions we make, good or bad, will affect our future. For example, a person who decides to follow a deviant behavior instead of following the society's norms will reap the fruits by becoming the rejects of society. Our decisions will have an effect on our family, health, and environment. Our responsibility, as Human Service Professionals, will be to instruct and help those that we'll have the privilege to guide to make good choices.

This equates to the basic saying of Live and Learn. If you do something today and receive negative consequences (and are of sound mind) you probably wouldn't do it again in the future. As a society we are looking for acceptance of others so any positive feedback we receive will result in a continuation of this behavior.

Dawn, I agreed very strongly that for every action, there is a reaction. Deciding not to pay your rent now, may have you homeless later. Not taking care of your health now, can decrease your quality of life later; not trating a child with abusive violent tendencies now, can serve to breed a mass murderer later - and so on and on and on...every thing we do or DON'T DO now affects our future...

I beleive that what we do today will effect us tommorrow whether it is in a negative way or a positive way.I constantly take oppurtunities to point out to my daughters what certain acts can produce.Anytime I hear of a young person doing positive things I pass those stories on to my children. The same when I hear negative stories I pass those on too. I try to show them that every act they commit will come with consequences.

I believe that our behavior today definitely effects our future. If someone strives for what they want they will accomplish it and if someone just sits back and thinks it's coming to them they will have a long wait because working hard and making the right decisions will get you the future you deserve.
