O.K. this may be off the charts, but I needed to vent to people who I think will understand my horror.
So I'm at PetCo today trying yet again to figure out why my Guppies tank water is neon green, and I'm just hanging around near the reptiles. A women comes by with her (about) 2yr old son. He is jumping up and down in front of some lizard, puonding on the glass and screaming that he wants him! Now the mother never once tells the child to stop pounding on the glass of the poor reptile that probably now wants to eat this small boy, but instead the mother says this to her son..."Oh honey, don't worry. As soon as Grandpa dies we can get you a big huge snake. I had a snake when I was young, and Grandpa has hated me ever since. So when he dies finally and isn't living with us anymore... we'll get rid of the stupid gerbil and come right back here and get you a snake."
The little boy stomps his feet and says, "I want the lizard."
Mom replies, "just wait 'till Grandpa dies and then we can get you whatever you want."

WHAT!?!?! If ever I have had to bite my tongue and walk away! This poor child is going to become the five year old we end up hearing about on the news that killed his grandfather all for the love of a lizard!
DEAR GOD! or should I give a big...
UUMMMH HHMMMH! Say it together now!

Hello All,
Has anyone seen the article in this morning's New Haven Register about Clarence Thomas? he claims that his Yale law degree opened no doors. He says that he has a 15 cent price tag stuck to his Yale law degree. He complains that he feels he admission to Yale was because of affirmative action and that he had 42 job interviews before getting a job. His classmates don't agree considered his appointment to the Supreme Court. I think like one of his colleagues said, he needs to get over and move on.

UUMMMH HHMMMH!!!!AMEN!!!Cindy first of all glad to see you got your internet fixed..Shame on that mom first for not telling the child to stop pounding on the tank and secondly for sounding like she was wishing her own father dead.

I read the article from Clarence Thomas and shame on him. He was given an opportunity that 1000's of others would love to have had and still its not good enough! Whether he was let into Yale because of affirmitive action or not, he should still be grateful.

If was the color of my skin that helped me get into and pay for school...Praise God! College in and of itself is quite expensive; but Yale University-now that is life's savings type of education! He sounds like a "whiner" to me.

I want to talk about something that is bothering me from the news headlines. Tell me why the media keeps comparing the CA fires to the Katrina disaster? I don't think they even compare. Katrina's victims were left to go hungry, thristy, and die on the streets, outside the stadium, and even on the highways. CA fire victims are watching TV, hanging out, laughing, having food and water passed out to them, and clowns amuse and entertain the children. CA fires victims, most of them can and will rebuild. The Katrina victims, well, quite a number of the have been forever misplaced and displaced. How can the two disasters even compare?

Clarence Thomas blames everyone for everything - including his good fortune. Clarence Thomas has so internalized the oppression of being black that he hates blacks. He hates himself. He should humbly ask to be removed from the Supreme Court and move in with Bill Cosby.

Clarence needs to get over it and be proud to be serving on The Supreme Court or we might have to call him Mr. Double Stuff Jr.

Kim,
The only thing in common with the CA fires and Katrina is that they are both disasters. Both are very sad because these people are losing everything. Yes, most CA victims will be able to rebuild but they still can not replace things of sentimental value. I agree that the Katrina victims suffered more initially because they were left with not much of an evacuation plan or enough resources to help them survive, where CA victims are able to benefit from many amenities that were not available to Katrina victims. Both disasters are awful. Katrina victims are still displaced. The CA population affected by the fires will suffer more long term effects such as more asthma, emphysema, and other breathing disorders due to the poor air quality. I have talked with someone from the area and she said it is terrible. Most children and adults need inhalers and the children can not even play outside.

Such a tragedy.
